New Delhi, April 21 (HS): The Delhi High Court has issued an order to re-hear 52 pending cases before a new bench instead of the bench headed by Justice Yashwant Verma, who is facing an investigation related to cash recovered from his residence. This order has been released in the latest notification from the Delhi High Court.

The High Court stated that among those pending cases before the bench chaired by Justice Yashwant Verma, where dates have been set and no notice has been issued, those cases will be re-heard anew. Following the recovery of a large amount of cash from his residence in Delhi, Justice Verma has been transferred to the Allahabad High Court. Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna has ordered that Justice Yashwant Verma be assigned no judicial work.

In this matter, a three-member committee constituted by the Supreme Court has begun the investigation. The committee set up by the Supreme Court includes Chief Justice Shil Nagoo of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, and Justice Anu Shivraman of the Karnataka High Court. Notably, cash was recovered by the fire department after a fire broke out at Justice Yashwant Verma's home on March 14. Following this incident, based on the orders of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, judicial work was withdrawn from Justice Verma.
