Delhi, 20 April (H.S.): US Vice President J D Vance, along with his wife Usha and their three children, will embark on a four-day visit to India, arriving at Palam airbase on Monday ,April 21 at 10 am. The visit is marked by a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the evening, following discussions that will concentrate on trade, tariffs, and other significant issues.
The Vance family, welcomed by a senior Union minister upon arrival, plans to visit the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple shortly after landing, as well as a shopping complex to explore traditional Indian handcrafted goods. Vance is accompanied by at least five senior officials, including representatives from the Pentagon and State Department, underlining the importance of this visit.
Additionally, the itinerary includes travels to Jaipur and Agra. The discussions with Modi are anticipated to emphasize the timely finalization of a proposed India-US bilateral trade agreement and strategies to enhance the bilateral relationship between the two nations further.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra will join Prime Minister Modi's team for discussions with the visiting US Vice President. After the talks, Modi will host the Vances and accompanying US officials for dinner.
The Vance family plans to depart for Jaipur on Monday night. While in Delhi, the US Vice President and his family will stay at the ITC Maurya Sheraton hotel. On April 22, they will tour historical sites, including the UNESCO-listed Amer Fort, and later that afternoon, Vance is scheduled to speak at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur, addressing the broader aspects of India-US relations during the Trump administration in front of diplomats and experts.
On the morning of April 23, the family will head to Agra, where they will visit the Taj Mahal and Shilpgram. After their Agra trip, they will return to Jaipur and depart for the US on April 24 from the luxurious Rambagh Palace.
