Chennai, 1 April (H.S.) : In a move to honor the legacy of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Kamaraj, Chief Minister M K Stalin announced on Tuesday that the new government library being constructed in Tiruchy will be named after the late leader.

The library, which is being built at a cost of Rs 290 crore, will join the ranks of other prominent libraries in the state named after notable leaders, including Social Reformer Periyar, DMK stalwart and former CM C N Annadurai, and DMK Patriarch and former CM M Karunanidhi.

Stalin praised Kamaraj's contributions to education, highlighting his efforts to open schools in all villages and launch the pioneering noon meal scheme, which revolutionized education and future growth in the state.

The Chief Minister requested School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi to issue a Government Order to formalize the naming of the library after Kamaraj. The construction of the library is currently underway, with Kamaraj having laid the foundation stone last month.
