New Delhi, March 31 (H.S.): Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju said on Monday that some political parties, organizations, and groups are attempting to spread confusion regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. They should refrain from doing so. He appealed that the government is going to present this bill in Parliament and urged the opposition to engage in a logical debate on it.
During a press conference on the Waqf Amendment Bill, Minister Rijiju stated that everyone has the right to express their views in a democracy but falsehoods should not be spread. Various confusions are being created about the bill. It is being labeled as unconstitutional. It is also being said that this will lead to the confiscation of Muslim land. Such lies are detrimental to the country and society. Similar falsehoods were spread during the CAA discussions as well. We should be proud that minorities in this country are the most secure and free.
Rijiju mentioned that there has been extensive consultation on the Waqf Bill. A Joint Parliamentary Committee has also prepared the bill ensuring the consultation process and democratic representation of all. He requests all political parties to participate in the discussions on the bill. Please do not mislead in this matter.
