Rudraprayag, March 29 (H. S.): This year, health workers on the Kedarnath pilgrimage will be able to cook their own meals along the route to the shrine. The department will supply kitchen materials, enabling staff to save on high food costs during the journey. Additionally, arrangements will be made for the workers at the MRP, allowing them to focus on conducting health checks for pilgrims in a healthy environment.
Pilgrims must walk 16 km from Gaurikund to Kedarnath, passing significant stops like Chhirmbasa, Junglechatti, Bhimbali, Lincholi, Chhani Camp, Rudra Point, Base Camp, and finally Kedarnath. Essential supplies are transported by horses and mules, but rising transportation costs have inflated prices for food, making it challenging for staff on duty to afford meals from hotels or roadside eateries.
To resolve this, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ram Prakash has initiated a plan to provide kitchen materials to staff at MRPs, including induction stoves and cooking utensils. This enables employees to buy rations and cook their meals, promoting their well-being and dedication in fulfilling their duties. Dr. Ram Prakash emphasized the need for proper food and rest facilities for employees on pilgrimage duty.
