New Delhi, March 28 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bangkok, Thailand from April 3-4 to participate in the 6th BIMSTEC Summit scheduled for April 4. This will be Prime Minister Modi's third visit to Thailand. After Thailand, the Prime Minister will go on an official visit to Sri Lanka from April 4-6.

On April 3, the Prime Minister will meet with the Prime Minister of Thailand. During the meeting, both leaders will review bilateral cooperation and pave the way for future partnerships. However, concerns about the summit have arisen following today's earthquake.

Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs, provided information about the Prime Minister's upcoming visits in a press conference today. He mentioned that the theme of the summit is ‘BIMSTEC: Prosperous, Resilient, and Open’. Currently, Thailand is holding the chair of BIMSTEC, which will soon be handed over to Bangladesh. During the summit, BIMSTEC leaders will discuss ways and means to enhance cooperation.

According to Mazumdar, during the visit to Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Modi will review the progress in areas of cooperation related to a shared vision to promote bilateral interests with President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

During this time, the Foreign Secretary answered questions related to the media. He stated that Prime Minister Modi will raise the issue of Indian fishermen before Sri Lanka. This issue should be viewed from the perspective of livelihood and humanitarian aspects, and the use of force is not appropriate.
