New Delhi, March 27 (HS): The Income Tax department's offices across the country will remain open from March 29 to March 31, to assist taxpayers in completing pending tax-related work for the current financial year. The current financial year 2024-25 ends on March 31.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) stated in an order released on Thursday, To facilitate the completion of pending departmental work, all income tax offices across India will remain open on March 29, 30, and 31, 2025. According to the statement, income tax offices will be open nationwide to assist taxpayers in settling pending tax-related matters for the current financial year 2024-25, which concludes on March 31.

According to the notification issued by the CBDT, the income tax offices across the country will remain open on the weekend and despite Eid-ul-Fitr, which may fall on a Monday. In fact, March 31, 2025 is also the last day of the current financial year 2024-25. Therefore, all government payments and settlements related to this financial year must be completed by that day.

Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) stated in a released statement that special clearing operations will be conducted across the country to facilitate the accounting of government receipts and payments for the current financial year 2024-25. The RBI has instructed banks handling government transactions to remain open on March 31 for the convenience of taxpayers.

It is noteworthy that March 31, 2025 is also the final date for filing updated Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the assessment year 2023-24.
