New Delhi, March 25 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an article by Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday, stating that the recently concluded 100-day intensive TB-Free India campaign has laid a strong foundation for a TB-free India.

J.P. Nadda highlighted India's transformative approach to combating tuberculosis (TB) on World Tuberculosis Day. He praised the 100-day intensive TB-Free India campaign that began on December 7, 2024, which has significantly advanced case detection, reduced mortality, and prevented new infections. This campaign not only showcased innovative strategies but also emphasized the importance of community organization in altering programmatic approaches. By utilizing portable X-ray machines and AI-powered diagnostics, even asymptomatic individuals were diagnosed and treated swiftly.

The campaign efficiently targeted high-risk groups, screening 129.7 million people, leading to the identification of 719,000 TB patients, including 285,000 asymptomatic cases. Nadda conveyed that this campaign serves as a strong foundation for a TB-free India and affirmed the government's commitment to expanding these initiatives nationwide. He also indicated that, akin to the rapid increase in COVID-19 testing, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is focused on advancing next-generation TB diagnostics to improve accessibility, ensuring every citizen receives modern diagnostics, quality treatment, and essential community support. Nadda's message portrays optimism as India not only fights TB but is on the path to defeating it.
