120 government employees dismissed in Odisha over last five years: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, 25 March (H.S.)Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday informed the State Assembly that a total of 120 government employees have been dismissed from service over the past five years.

Responding in writing to a question raised by Rajanagar MLA Dhruba Charan Sahoo, the Chief Minister stated that these dismissals were part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in public service.

In addition to the dismissals, 39 government officers were compulsorily retired due to their involvement in corrupt practices. The Chief Minister also highlighted the actions of the Vigilance Department, which seized assets worth ₹59.47 crore (₹59,47,84,981) from officials caught in corruption cases.

He further shared year-wise data of employees who were either dismissed, given compulsory retirement, or forced into premature retirement between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2024, underlining the government’s firm stance against corruption and misconduct in public service.
