New Delhi, March 17 (HS): Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched a mobile app for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) at the new Parliament building in New Delhi on Monday. This app will make it easier to apply for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme. Additionally, the first facilitation center has been established to provide information related to the Prime Minister Internship Scheme. This center has been created by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Here, youth will receive information and assistance regarding internships.
The deadline to apply for internships under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme was initially March 12 but has now been extended to March 31. With the launch of the mobile app, it will become even more convenient for youth to undertake internships in various government ministries and among the country's top 500 companies. Applicants can also apply by visiting the official website of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme. In the first round of this scheme, 1.27 lakh youth had the opportunity to undertake internships, and now the goal is to provide internship opportunities to over 1.25 lakh youth in the second round.
The government has approved ₹840 crore for the pilot project of this scheme, of which ₹48 crore has already been spent. Eligible applicants for this scheme should be aged between 21 to 24 years and must have passed grades 10 and 12. Additionally, they should possess a bachelor's degree, ITI diploma, or other technical qualifications. Under the scheme, interns receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 and a one-time grant of ₹6,000 for miscellaneous expenses. Furthermore, insurance coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana is also provided.
