NEW DELHI, 11 March (H.S.) : Delhi government minister and BJP MLA Parvesh Verma has

officially sworn in as a member of the New Delhi Municipal Council. Following

this ceremony, a meeting convened within the council. Present at this gathering

were NDMC Vice President Kuljeet Singh Chahal, NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra,

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, along with numerous NDMC officials and members.

The Member of the Legislative Assembly representing the New

Delhi assembly constituency has been designated as a member of the New Delhi

Municipal Council (NDMC). Previously, Arvind Kejriwal held a position on the

NDMC; however, he was unsuccessful in the recent election. Consequently,

Parvesh Verma has been appointed as a member of the NDMC today.

Following his oath-taking, Minister Parvesh Verma

participated in the NDMC meeting. He suggested the possibility of renaming

notable locations, stadiums, and various institutions in Delhi, similar to

those in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Maharashtra. Parvesh

Verma indicated that he would present a proposal to rename Talkatora Stadium at

the upcoming NDMC meeting. The ultimate decision regarding this proposal will

be made after thorough discussions during the NDMC session. Should the proposal

receive approval, the renaming of Talkatora Stadium could occur in the near

future.

Minister Parvesh Verma stated that the NDMC Council

convened for its first meeting following the Delhi elections. He highlighted those

significant discussions occurred during this session. There are currently 34

slum areas facing water supply issues. Over the next six to eight months, 9,000

new water connections are set to be established, benefiting approximately 4,700

individuals. This represents a substantial decision. Additionally, the council

is exploring options for procuring affordable electricity. An encroachment

drive will be initiated to maintain cleanliness on the roads within the NDMC

jurisdiction. Furthermore, the NDMC area will be enhanced with the installation

of CCTV cameras.
