Tamil Nadu, 5 February (H.S.): The CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute (CSIR-CLRI) successfully hosted the 58th Leather Research, Industry, Government Conclave (LERIG) in conjunction with the India International Leather Fair (IILF) 2025.

According to PIB Chennai, the conclave focused on strategic advancements for the development of the leather and footwear sector in India, emphasizing sustainability and innovation. Key highlights included the introduction of a carbon footprint assessment tool, protein fillers derived from chrome shaving waste, and innovative specialty chemicals.

Distinguished guests from the leather industry shared insights on global market dynamics, sustainable practices, and the importance of aligning with global trends.
