The stock market is ecstatic about the avertance of a tariff war, with the Sensex and Nifty experiencing a significant increase.


New Delhi, 4 February (HS): After Monday's fall, the domestic stock market witnessed a great boom today. There was an atmosphere of excitement in the stock market across the world today due to the announcement by US President Donald Trump to temporarily postpone the extra tariff to be imposed on Mexico and Canada. Due to global support, the domestic stock market also showed a strong rally today. Intra-day, Sensex jumped by 1,471 points and Nifty by 401 points. After the whole day's trading, Sensex closed with a gain of 1.81 percent and Nifty by 1.62 percent.

Today, during the whole day's trading, all sectoral indices except FMCG closed in the green with gains. In today's trading, the FMCG index fell by 0.13 percent. On the other hand, there was strong buying in the shares of banking, IT, capital goods and metal sector throughout the day. Similarly, automobile, consumer durables, health care, oil and gas, public sector enterprise and tech index also closed strongly. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 1.35 percent. Similarly, the small cap index ended today's trading with a gain of 1.20 percent.

Due to the strength in the stock market today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by about Rs 6 lakh crore. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE increased to Rs 425.24 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. Whereas on the previous trading day i.e. Monday, their market capitalization was Rs 419.54 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 5.70 lakh crore from today's trading.

There was active trading in 4,073 shares in BSE during the day's trading today. Out of these, 2,511 shares closed with a gain, while 1,407 shares declined, while 155 shares closed without any fluctuation. There was active trading in 2,561 shares in NSE today. Out of these, 1,797 shares closed in the green mark after making profit and 764 shares closed in the red mark after suffering loss. Similarly, out of the 30 shares included in Sensex, 25 shares closed with a gain and 5 shares closed with a decline. Whereas out of the 50 shares included in Nifty, 40 shares closed in the green mark and 10 shares closed in the red mark.

The BSE Sensex today jumped 500.86 points to open at 77,687.60 points. There were minor fluctuations in the initial trading. Due to the pressure of selling, the index fell to 77,402.37 points shortly before 11 am, but after this all-round buying started in the market. Due to this buying, the movement of Sensex gained momentum. With the support of continuous buying, the index jumped 1,471.85 points to 78,658.59 points shortly before the end of today's trading. However, due to slight profit booking in the end, the index slipped slightly below the upper level and closed at 78,583.81 points with a gain of 1,397.07 points.

Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty started trading today with a jump of 148.85 points at the level of 23,509.90 points. After the market opened, there was a slight fluctuation in the movement of this index.

However, the pace of this index increased after getting the support of buying shortly before 11 am. With the support of continuous buying, the index reached 23,762.75 points with a gain of 401.70 points shortly before the end of today's trading. However, in the end, due to selling due to intra-day settlement, the index broke slightly from the upper level and closed at 23,739.25 points with a gain of 378.20 points.

After the day's trading today, among the big stocks of the stock market, Shriram Finance 5.60 percent, Larsen & Toubro 4.56 percent, Bharat Electronics 3.78 percent, Adani Ports 3.71 percent and IndusInd Bank 3.40 percent were included in the list of today's top 5 gainers. On the other hand, Trent Limited fell 6.27 per cent, Britannia 1.51 per cent, Hero Motocorp 1.16 per cent, Nestle 0.76 per cent and Eicher Motors 0.64 per cent to be included in the list of top 5 losers today.
