New Delhi, 04 February (HS): Lieutenant General Batu Tshering, Chief Operation Officer of Royal Bhutan Army, who is on a visit to India, met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday. He discussed relations with India to enhance bilateral relations in line with the 'Neighbor First' policy. The Defense Minister supported defense preparations to enhance Bhutan's national priorities and capabilities.
Lieutenant General Batu Tshering, Chief Operation Officer (COO) of Royal Bhutan Army (RBA), met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today and discussed various issues on bilateral relations. During the talks, the Defense Minister reaffirmed India's readiness to enhance Bhutan's capabilities in line with Bhutan's national priorities and India's 'Neighbor First' policy. They supported Bhutan in capacity enhancement for defence preparedness including provision of defence equipment and assets.
Lt Gen Batu Tshering appreciated the continued support of the Government of India and thanked India for enhancing Bhutan's modern defence capabilities and assisting in training the RBA. He also reaffirmed the RBA's firm commitment to work closely with India in realising the shared vision of peace and prosperity in the region. Lt Gen is on an official visit to India from 02-05 February. The visit is part of the ongoing high level contacts between the two sides and has provided an opportunity to further deepen bilateral defence and security relations.
