Dehradun, 4 February (HS): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Standard Club Carnival of the Bureau of Indian Standards organized in Dehradun on Tuesday. After this, he inspected various stalls and administered the oath to buy mark products.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Standards Club of the Bureau of Indian Standards is working to explain the importance of quality and standardization to our students as well as develop creativity, innovation and scientific approach in them. He said that the economy, industrial development and global competition of any country depends on how reliable and high quality the products and services made there are.
Chief Minister Dhami said that even today when we go to buy a product, the first thing we see is whether the product has ISI mark or not. If there is ISI mark, then we are fully confident that this product will meet all the standards of quality and safety. He said that any standards are not just technical guidelines or criteria, but they are also the foundation of development and self-reliance of our country.
The Chief Minister said, standards of high quality, safety and efficiency should be implemented in all areas, so that our standard of living can improve and the economy can also be strengthened. Similarly, in our state too, the Bureau of Indian Standards, in coordination with PWD, MDDA, UPCL and Disaster Management Department, is doing important work to make all of them aware and empowered towards standardization.
Dhami said ,today we are trying to set high standards for our traditional products, such as handicrafts, organic agricultural products, medicinal herbs and other local products so that our products can compete globally. Keeping this in mind, the state government has established an umbrella brand named 'House of Himalayas'. On this occasion, Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor, Director of Bureau of Indian Standards Saurabh Tiwari, Commissioner Food Harichandra Semwal, Deputy Director BIS Snehlata etc. were present.
