Bhandara, 27 Feb (HS):- Materials worth Rs 44.55

lakh were seized by Bhandara police from illegal sand excavators. The action

was taken at Tamaswadi Sand Ghat on the banks of the Wainganga River.

Police initiated the action based on illegal sand excavation and transport information, and seized 11 tippers, a tractor a

trolly and other materials.

The site is just six kilometers away from the Tumsar

Headquarters. The police and Revenue Departments were not aware of the sand

smuggling. The police squad from Bhandara had to initiate the action. Questions

about the efficiency of Tumsar Police and Revenue Officials are being raised by

local people.
