New Delhi, 22 February (HS): Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi expressed his condolences to the eight workers trapped inside during the tunnel accident in Telangana. He said that my condolences are with the people trapped inside and their families in this difficult time.

Rahul Gandhi said in a post on X on Saturday night,Deeply distressed to learn about the tunnel roof collapse in Telangana. My thoughts are with those trapped inside and their families at this difficult time.

I have been informed that rescue operations are underway, and the state government along with disaster relief teams are doing everything possible to expeditiously bring back those in danger.

The Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel's portion collapsed under the Eegalapenta police station limits in the Nagarkurnool district. The incident occurred while approximately 50 workers were engaged in work inside the tunnel. According to police, several workers managed to escape immediately after the collapse. However, eight workers were feared trapped.The accident took place 14 km inside the entry point of the tunnel. Relief and rescue operations are underway.
