New Delhi, 23 February (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday raised the issue of obesity as a health problem increasing due to modern lifestyle in his monthly radio program 'Mann Ki Baat'. In this regard, he appealed to the general public to reduce the use of edible oil in their food by 10 percent. He also talked about giving a challenge to 10 people related to reduction in edible oil as a medium to create awareness on social media in this regard.

In the 119th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat' today, Prime Minister Modi narrated the conversation with Olympic players Neeraj Chopra, Nikhat Zareen and health expert Dr. Devi Shetty on the subject of obesity. He said that reducing the use of oil in food and dealing with obesity is not only a personal matter but it is also our responsibility towards the family. Excessive use of oil in food causes many diseases like heart diseases, diabetes and high blood pressure. He said that by making small changes in food, we can make our future strong, powerful and disease free.

He said, You decide that you will use 10 percent less oil every month. You will reduce the purchase of oil by 10 percent. This will be an important step towards reducing obesity.

Prime Minister Modi has been continuously raising topics like environmental protection and wildlife conservation in 'Mann Ki Baat'. In this sequence, today he talked about the vibrant ecosystem of India. He gave information about those traditions which inspire people to conserve wildlife and nature. He said that Asiatic lion, Hangul, Pygmy Hog and Lion-tailed Macaque are not found anywhere else in the world, they are found only in our country. We have a very vibrant eco-system of flora and fauna and these flora and fauna of our country are deeply embedded in our history and culture.

Like every time, this time too the Prime Minister, while encouraging sports, mentioned India's growing stature in this field in 'Mann Ki Baat'. He said that India is going to become a global sports powerhouse and our players and campaigns like Khelo India have a big role in this. In this regard, he told about the new emerging players. He said that the number of teenage champions in this year's National Games is surprising. He is happy that India's young athletes are growing rapidly in making India a global sporting powerhouse with dedication and discipline.

Like every time, this time too, while honoring 'Nari Shakti', the Prime Minister said that on the coming Women's Day, he will hand over his social media accounts (X, Insta, Facebook and others) to some women doing some inspirational work in the country for a day. On March 8, these women will share their work and experience with the countrymen. He said that even though this platform will be theirs, it will be about their experiences, challenges and achievements. Underlining India's growing steps in the digital sector, the Prime Minister said in 'Mann Ki Baat' that India is now making a place for itself in artificial intelligence as well. He informed about the important work done by Thodasam Kailash, a teacher at a government school in Adilabad, Telangana, through AI towards saving tribal languages. He told that he has done wonders by composing a song in the Kolami language through AI. He is using AI to compose songs in many languages ​​other than Kolami.

In the 'Mann Ki Baat' program, he appealed to the people to spend a day like a scientist on National Science Day. He said that people should try spending a day as a scientist. Any day can be chosen for this. On that day, they can go to a research lab, planetarium or space center. This will further increase their curiosity about science.

He also mentioned the launch of ISRO's 100th rocket last month in the program. He said that the scope of ISRO's successes is constantly increasing. In the last 10 years, about 407 satellites have been launched. Many of these satellites belong to other countries. Today the space sector has become a favorite for the youth. Till a few years ago, no one had even thought that the number of startups and private sector space-related companies would reach hundreds.
