Guwahati, 19 February (HS): Assam Police took action against the large-scale illegal poppy cultivation in the Ghulan Tapu area of Assam-Bengal border and destroyed the crop spread over eight bighas of land. The opium cultivation done in this area was completely destroyed.

According to the information given by the officials on Wednesday, the police got information about this illegal cultivation flourishing secretly amidst beautiful views. By destroying it, the police has given a clear message that the crime, no matter how hidden, will not be spared. Further legal action is underway.
