Kolkata, 15 February (H.S.): A tragic road accident on Kolkata’s Belgharia Expressway late Friday night claimed the life of a young biker. The accident occurred when the victim got caught between two speeding trucks and lost control of his bike.

The deceased has been identified as Sayantan Das, a resident of Kutigghat in Baranagar, North Kolkata. He was returning home from the airport when the mishap took place near Satin Sen Nagar on the expressway. According to eyewitnesses, Sayantan attempted to maneuver his bike between two racing trucks. In a bid to speed up and pass through, he lost control and crashed onto the road. The impact caused severe head and chest injuries, leading to his death on the spot.

A heartbreaking scene unfolded at the accident site as Sayantan’s belongings, including a few roses he was carrying, lay scattered on the road. Police arrived at the spot soon after, recovered the body, and worked to clear the traffic congestion that had built up due to the accident.

Investigations revealed that Sayantan was not wearing a helmet, which contributed to the fatal injuries. Local residents have raised concerns over the growing menace of high-speed traffic on the Belgharia Expressway, particularly at night. They have urged authorities to take stricter measures to curb reckless driving in the area.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and police are continuing their probe into the incident.
