New Delhi, December 08 (H.S.): India’s largest airline, IndiGo, restored its operations on Monday after a week-long disruption. The airline cancelled 500 flights today, while more than 1,800 flights across its nationwide network have become operational again. Out of a total 9,000 bags, the airline has returned 4,500 bags to passengers, and the remaining bags will be delivered within the next 36 hours. The company has refunded ₹827 crore to affected passengers. Meanwhile, a high-level committee formed by the DGCA has issued summons to IndiGo’s top officials.

In a statement issued today, the airline claimed a significant improvement across its network following the recent operational challenges. IndiGo said it is fully prepared to operate more than 1,800 flights, ensuring connectivity to all operational stations. The airline stated that it has optimised operations, reduced the number of planned cancellations already communicated to customers, and improved its on-time performance (OTP) to 91% across the network.

IndiGo further stated that processes related to flight cancellations, refunds, baggage delivery, and rebooking have been accelerated. The company has refunded ₹827 crore to passengers so far, while the remaining refunds are being processed. Between December 1 and 7, the airline provided stranded passengers with hotel accommodation, cab services, and luggage delivery support. IndiGo added that with fast-paced efforts, it expects to return to completely normal operations within the next 24 to 36 hours.

An IndiGo spokesperson said passengers can check the latest flight status at: goindigo.in/check-flight status.html. For refund assistance, customers may visit goindigo.in/refund.html or contact customer support. “We regret this disruption and sincerely apologise to all our customers,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that all operations are being conducted in full compliance with FDTL regulations and safety norms, as they have been for the past two decades. The airline will continue to work closely with authorities to stabilise operations. “Once again, we deeply apologise for the disruptions over the past few days. We are grateful for the patience and understanding of our passengers, as well as the dedication of our staff and partners,” the spokesperson said.
