New Delhi, 31 December (H.S.): In a major cultural event celebrating India’s timeless spiritual heritage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the exposition “Lotus Light: Relics of the Awakened One” on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Rai Pithora Cultural Complex in New Delhi.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture under the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, the exposition will display the Sacred Piprahwa Relics, believed to be associated with the mortal remains of Gautama Buddha, alongside other rare and historically significant antiquities.

The exhibition is a landmark moment in both India’s cultural and diplomatic journey, reflecting the nation’s steadfast commitment to preserving and promoting its civilizational legacy.

The Piprahwa Relics, first discovered in the late 19th century, are widely venerated by Buddhist communities across the globe. Their repatriation and public presentation highlight India’s dedication to safeguarding its cultural patrimony while promoting the Buddha’s universal message of peace, compassion, and enlightenment.
