
Chennai, 28 December (H.S.) : Chief Minister M K Stalin, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay were among the prominent leaders who paid rich tributes to the late Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam founder, Captain Vijayakanth, on his second death anniversary on Sunday. Thousands of party cadres and followers gathered at the DMDK headquarters in Koyambedu to offer floral tributes at the memorial of the beloved leader.
Chief Minister M K Stalin, in a heartfelt social media post, shared a photograph with the late leader and praised his unwavering commitment to the underprivileged. He stated that Vijayakanth earned the immense love of the Tamil people through his deep concern for the poor and his large-hearted nature. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, accompanied by Ministers E V Velu and Ma Subramanian, also visited the memorial to pay their respects.
AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami participated in the annual Guru Pooja at the memorial alongside DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth. He recalled Vijayakanth as a leader who lived by the principle of helping those in need and left a lasting impact on both the film industry and public life. Actor-turned-politician Vijay hailed the late leader as a revolutionary artiste who secured an indelible place in the hearts of the masses.
TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai described Vijayakanth as a man of integrity and a dedicated public servant. Earlier in the day, Premalatha Vijayakanth led a march of DMDK workers to the party headquarters. Various other leaders, including A C Shanmugam and Mallai Sathya, also joined in honoring the memory of the leader known for his tireless service to the people.
