Guwahati, 27 December (HS): An elderly man was killed on the spot after being hit by a train in the Narangi area of Guwahati on Saturday.

According to the Railway Police, the incident occurred near Narangi railway station when the man was run over by an up train. The deceased is believed to be around 60 years old.

Till the filing of this report, the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. On receiving information, personnel from the Bamunimaidam Railway Police reached the spot and sent the body to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident and police are making efforts to establish the identity of the deceased.
