Cachar (Assam), 25 December (HS): A devastating fire broke out at Udarbond in Assam’s Cachar district last night, reducing a residential house to ashes and causing heavy loss of property worth several lakhs of rupees.

According to sources, the fire erupted at the residence of Nur Alam Laskar. The blaze spread rapidly, completely gutting the house before it could be brought under control.

Household articles, furniture and other valuable belongings were destroyed in the incident. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Local residents and fire services managed to douse the flames after considerable effort, while further investigation is underway.---------
