Karbi Anglong (Assam), 25 December (HS): In an effort to bring the prevailing situation in Kheroni under control and prevent any untoward incidents, the Army and commando forces conducted an extensive flag march across the entire area on Wednesday. The security exercise was carried out to reinforce law and order and to instill a sense of safety and confidence among the local residents.

Sources said that the flag march covered sensitive localities, market areas and major roads of Kheroni, with security personnel maintaining a visible presence on the ground. The move comes in the wake of recent tensions in the area, prompting the administration to step up security measures as a precautionary step.

Officials stated that special emphasis is being given to night patrolling to ensure that no undesirable incidents take place under the cover of darkness. Army and commando personnel have been deployed at strategic points and continuous monitoring is being carried out to keep the situation under strict control.

The district administration and police have appealed to the public to maintain peace and cooperate with the security forces. Authorities have also warned that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disturb communal harmony or law and order.

Meanwhile, officials maintained that the situation in Kheroni remains under control, with security agencies remaining on high alert to prevent any escalation.---------
