Shahjahanpur,

22 Dec (HS): Four people, including a woman, have been detained for allegedly conducting

religious conversions under the pretense of a prayer gathering, according to a

senior police official on Monday. Police searched a colony within the Roza

police station boundaries on Sunday, where a meeting was taking place in a huge

room, according to Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi. He stated that a

Christian religious sign was on display at the place, and that numerous people,

including Hindu ladies and children, were there.

Vivek

Kumar, Vipin, Monu, and a woman identified as Angel have been arrested under

relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including assault sections,

as well as charges under laws pertaining to unlawful religious conversion, he

said, adding that the accused have been jailed.

Dwivedi

stated that numerous ladies left the scene upon spotting the cops. Two males at

the location, Ramesh and Lakhan, informed police that individuals who converted

were offered money and marriage help by members of the Christian community,

according to the officer.

He

stated that in a similar case previously reported at the Ramchandra Mission

police station in Sidhauli, a thorough investigation revealed that around Rs

48,000 was credited to the organiser's bank account everyday, with the funds

arriving from outside in US dollars. In the current instance, investigators are

looking into the source of cash, the number of suspected conversions, and the overseas

connections involved, he noted.
