New Delhi, 22 December (H.S.): The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) committed to mutual collaboration in research, education, training, and technological support for national defence and internal security through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on Monday at South Block in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

The agreement aligns with the government's priority to devise an integrated strategy against foreign threats and domestic hostile activities simultaneously. According to the Defence Ministry, the MoU fortifies India's self-reliance in defence and internal security technologies, resonating with Atmanirbhar Bharat and the comprehensive nationwide vision during Amrit Kaal, while enhancing national security preparedness and strategic autonomy through integrated technology, knowledge, and operational insights.

Joint Ventures in Research, Training, and Tech GapsRRU, an institution of national importance under the Home Ministry and designated by the University Grants Commission as the nodal centre for defence studies, offers robust academic, training, and policy expertise in internal security.

DRDO, the premier defence R&D entity, delivers cutting-edge indigenous technologies and system-level proficiency to meet armed forces and security agencies' needs.

Under the pact, both entities will pursue joint research projects, PhD and fellowship programs, specialized training, and capacity-building for security forces. Collaboration encompasses studies on emerging defence challenges, technology gap analyses, future requirements forecasting, and lifecycle management of DRDO-developed systems for Central Armed Police Forces and other Home Ministry agencies.

Distinguished Scientific and Director General (Production Coordination & Service Interaction) Dr. Chandrika Kaushik, RRU Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, and Secretary Department of Defence Research & Development and DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V. Kamat attended the signing ceremony.
