Lucknow,

19 Dec (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today leveled another serious

accusation against the Samajwadi Party regarding the codeine syrup case. Yogi said

that everyone knows that every mafia has ties to the Samajwadi Party. Speaking

to reporters at the media center in the Vidhan Bhavan before the assembly

proceedings began on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the

investigation into the cough syrup case is ongoing. All those arrested so far

have links to the Samajwadi Party. The Chief Minister said, Let the

investigation continue, and the truth will be revealed.

Regarding

the SP's opposition to the codeine cough syrup issue, Chief Minister Yogi said

that the drug is covered under the NTPS. Codeine is used to treat colds and

coughs. The Central Narcotics Bureau allocates it, but this cough syrup was

being used as a drug in many places. There were complaints of its illegal

smuggling. Following the complaints, our government took action. This action is

being carried out by the UP government, UP Police, and FSDA.

He

said that smugglers have been caught from many places. Every mafia has links

with the Samajwadi Party. This has come to light in the preliminary

investigation. Those who have been caught by the STF have links with the SP.

The state-level SIT is monitoring this case. Illegal smuggling and related

aspects will be exposed. Who has received the money? Our leaders will answer on

the issue of codeine cough syrup, both in the House and outside. One of our

MLAs has passed away. Therefore, after expressing condolences today, the

Assembly will not function. Our leaders will answer on this in the Legislative

Council. We will take strict action in this matter.

Chief

Minister Yogi Adityanath took a dig at Akhilesh Yadav's aggressive stance in

the Codeine cough syrup case by reciting Ghalib's couplet. He said that

Ghalib kept making the same mistake throughout his life; there was dust

on his face but he kept cleaning the mirror. Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath said that the assembly session is starting today. We welcome all the

participants. This time there will be a discussion on Vande Mataram. We wanted

the session to last longer but on the request of public representatives, it has

been kept for a limited time. He said that SIR work is ongoing. He wants to

play his important role in that work. The session will continue till December

24. Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brijesh Pathak, Finance and

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna were also present with the Chief

Minister.
