
Mathura,
16 Dec (HS): According to a police official, a vehicle pile-up on the Yamuna
Expressway here early Tuesday killed six persons and wounded nearly two dozen others. Around
4:30 a.m., at least seven buses and many smaller cars crashed in the severe
fog, according to the officer. The event took place under the jurisdiction of
the Baldev Police Station.
The
accident killed six persons and wounded twenty-five. The vehicles crashed owing to poor visibility
on the Yamuna Expressway from Agra to Noida.
Some cars also caught fire. SSP
Mathura Shlok Kumar stated that all injured people have been taken to the
hospital. Images
from the scene showed charred wreckage of busses that had taken fire. Cranes
were sent in to take them off the road.
According
to the officer, the individuals were transported to their destinations in
government cars. He noted that because the route is obstructed, diversions are
being established.
