West Medinipur, 15 December (H.S.): Panic gripped the area in Ajnashuli village, under Kashijora Gram Panchayat of Shalboni block in West Medinipur district, after cartridges were found while digging the soil to catch rats on Monday.

The cartridges were unearthed while digging the field on Monday morning. No one understood where they came from or how long they had been buried underground. According to local sources, the cartridges were recovered from the land belonging to former CPI(M) leader Sukdev Mahto. Upon receiving the information, the police from Shalboni police station reached the spot and seized the cartridges.

Notably, Shalboni has long been a stronghold of Maoists. At one time, a landmine exploded in front of the convoy of former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee while he was returning from Shalboni.

However, the CPI(M) leadership has pointed the finger at the Trinamool Congress in this matter. CPI(M) district secretary Vijay Pal said that the whole country knows who had an agreement with Kishanji (a Maoist leader). The Trinamool Congress was behind the Maoists. Therefore, they will have to take responsibility for this incident as well.
