Jalandhar, 15 December (H.S.):
Panic swept through Jalandhar on Monday after at least 11 schools received threatening emails warning of explosions, leading authorities to order immediate evacuations and launch comprehensive anti-sabotage searches.
Affected institutions included St. Joseph’s Convent School, Ivy World School, and Sanskriti KMV School, with campuses cleared around noon following alerts received shortly after 10 a.m.; no suspicious items have been detected so far.
Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur and Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal deployed bomb disposal squads, additional teams from the PAP complex, and cyber cell experts to trace the emails, which school managements initially downplayed to parents as electrical faults or repair work to avoid chaos.
ACP Sanjay Kumar confirmed swift action upon notification, stating the situation remains under control as thorough checks continue across all sites.
This incident follows similar hoax threats to Amritsar schools earlier in the week, heightening vigilance amid initial reports linking some threats to alleged Khalistani groups, though investigations proceed.
