Delhi, 15 December (H.S.):
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday interrogated Yes Bank co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer Rana Kapoor in connection with a money laundering investigation involving companies of the Reliance Anil Ambani Group.
According to official sources, Kapoor was questioned at the ED headquarters in Delhi under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. His statements are being recorded as part of the ongoing financial investigation.
The agency’s inquiry pertains to the period between 2017 and 2019, during which Yes Bank allegedly invested ₹2,965 crore in Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL) and another ₹2,045 crore in Reliance Commercial Finance Limited (RCFL).
The ED has claimed that by December 2019, these investments had turned into non-performing assets (NPAs).
Monday’s questioning marks a significant development in the broader probe into alleged irregularities and financial mismanagement linked to the Reliance Anil Ambani Group and its dealings with Yes Bank during Kapoor’s tenure.
