Guwahati, 15 December (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced that the Shri Shri Batadrava Thaan Cultural Project, associated with the sacred legacy of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva, will be formally inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Ahead of the inauguration, the Chief Minister shared glimpses of the project on social media, describing the transformation as a significant milestone in preserving Assam’s cultural consciousness and spiritual heritage. He said the state government had taken a historic step by freeing the holy land of Batadrava Thaan from encroachment and initiating measures for its long-term protection.

Dr Sarma stated that the Batadrava Cultural Project was conceived with the objective of ensuring the security, conservation and holistic development of this sacred site. He said that Batadrava Thaan is not only an inseparable part of Assam’s socio-cultural life but also a symbol of India’s rich spiritual tradition.

The Chief Minister further said the site has been developed as a world-class spiritual and tourism destination so that the eternal legacy of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva can be preserved for future generations. He added that the rejuvenated spiritual centre, now restored in a new form after being made encroachment-free, is ready to welcome devotees and visitors alike.-------------
