Delhi, 12 December (H.S.): IndiGo on Friday announced that its board has approved the appointment of an expert consulting firm to independently investigate the recent flight disruptions.

In a statement, the airline said Chief Aviation Advisors LLC, led by Captain John Illson, will conduct a root cause analysis of the operational disruptions and recommend areas for improvement.

“Captain Illson brings over four decades of experience across FAA, ICAO, IATA, and major global carriers. He has expertise in aviation strategy, safety leadership, international standards, and new aircraft technologies,” the airline stated.

The announcement comes after IndiGo faced widespread flight cancellations from December 2, causing chaos at major airports across India.

The airline said the external review aims to identify the causes of the operational disruptions and explore opportunities for improvement.

The DGCA and the Ministry of Civil Aviation have already ordered probes into the disruptions. As part of the ongoing investigation, the DGCA has suspended four Flight Operations Inspectors, following the cancellation of thousands of flights and stranding lakhs of passengers across the country.
