Delhi, 12 December (H.S.): Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Parliament House on Friday and presented him with the Delhi Assembly’s publication, a coffee table book titled ‘Shatabdi-Yatra, Veer Vitthalbhai Patel’. The book is dedicated to Vitthalbhai Patel, the first Indian elected Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly, and documents India’s parliamentary journey from 1925 to 2025.
Sharing details of the publication, Gupta informed the Prime Minister that the coffee table book is a comprehensive compilation of India’s century-long parliamentary and democratic evolution. It contains rare archival photographs, historical documents and significant milestones that shaped the country’s democratic framework over the past hundred years.
A major highlight of the book is its detailed account of the All-India Speakers’ Conference held in 2025 to commemorate the centenary of Vitthalbhai Patel’s election. The conference was organised as a tribute to the historic moment that laid the foundation of India’s modern parliamentary traditions.
Gupta also apprised the Prime Minister that the Audit Para Monitoring System (APMS) has become fully operational in the Government of NCT Delhi, making it possibly the first state assembly to implement such a comprehensive real-time audit monitoring portal. He added that through the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), the Delhi Assembly has been fully transformed into a digital and paperless House. The Assembly complex has also been successfully converted into a solar-powered green campus.
He further informed the Prime Minister that the process of developing the Delhi Assembly as a designated heritage site has begun to preserve its democratic legacy for future generations. Under this initiative, the Assembly complex will be opened to the public, allowing citizens to closely experience the history and contribution of this iconic parliamentary institution.
