Delhi, 4 November (H.S.): Gopichand P. Hinduja, the esteemed industrialist and Chairman of the Hinduja Group, passed away in London today. He was 85 years old.Sources close to the family confirmed on Tuesday that Gopichand Hinduja, widely known as 'GP' in business circles, had been unwell for the past few weeks and died in a London hospital.

He began his career with the family business in Mumbai in 1959.Gopichand Hinduja had assumed the role of Chairman in 2023 following the death of his elder brother, Srichand Hinduja. This year, the Hinduja family, led by Gopichand, retained their position as the wealthiest people in the United Kingdom, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

He was the second of four brothers. With the passing of his elder brother Srichand in 2023, his surviving brothers are Prakash P. Hinduja and Ashok P. Hinduja. Gopichand P. Hinduja is survived by his wife, Sunita Hinduja, their two sons, Sanjay and Dheeraj, and a daughter, Rita.
