
Delhi, 28 October (H.S.): Global markets offered a mixed performance on Tuesday, as positive momentum from Wall Street's previous session failed to uniformly inspire Asian equities, which traded with a divided sentiment.U.S. markets closed the prior session on a strong note, buoyed by investor optimism surrounding a proposed meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss trade and other key issues.
The S&P 500 index surged 1.23 percent to finish at 6,875.16, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.86 percent to close at 23,637.46. However, Dow Jones Futures indicated a slight pullback, trading down by 0.04 percent.European markets also ended their last session with modest gains. The FTSE index edged up 0.08 percent, the CAC index rose 0.16 percent, and the DAX index advanced 0.28 percent.
In Asia, trading was varied across the major exchanges. Gains were seen in the Straits Times Index, which rose 0.66 percent, the Shanghai Composite Index, up 0.21 percent, and the Hang Seng Index, which climbed 0.18 percent.Conversely, several other regional indices were in decline. The Gift Nifty was trading 0.40 percent lower. South Korea's Kospi index experienced a notable drop of 1.24 percent.
Japan's Nikkei index fell 0.60 percent, while the SET Composite Index of Thailand, the Jakarta Composite, and the Taiwan Weighted Index also registered losses.
