(HS): On Friday night two separate mishaps rocked Agra. In first incident, a
speeding car struck seven people in Nagla Budhi, located on Central Hindi
Sansthan Road in the New Agra police station. A delivery boy riding a bike was
the first to be hit. Eyewitnesses said police were conducting checking near the
scene. To escape the police, the driver sped away. A short distance away, a
mother, son, and two friends were also hit.
Despite this,
the driver did not stop the car. The car went out of control and hit a divider
100 meters ahead. It overturned three times and fell on people sitting outside
a house. Two people were crushed under it. After the incident, there was
screaming and shouting. The people of the locality straightened the car and
pulled out the trapped people. With the help of the police, everyone was taken
to the hospital, where 5 were declared dead. 2 are in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses
said the driver was drunk and was speeding away, fearing arrest. The incident
occurred around 8 p.m. A car was speeding from the 80-foot section of Dayalbagh
Road toward Nagla Budhi. Eyewitness Premchand, a resident of Nagla Budhi, said
his father, Daulatram, had died on Thursday. Therefore, the family had set up a
tent outside their home. The family was sitting under the tent.
Jatin Resort
is located 200 meters from the house, near a liquor store. The car first struck
an employee of an online food delivery company right in front of the resort. He
was on a bike. Even after hitting him, the driver did not stop the car. It was
reported that the police were conducting a checkpoint nearby. The police
attempted to stop the car. To avoid this, the driver increased the speed.
The
uncontrolled car hit Babli (38), a resident of Nagla Budhi, her son Golu, and
two friends, Kamal (23) and Krish alias Krishna (20), who were painters and
passing by. The car then hit a divider 100 meters ahead. The impact was so
severe that it overturned three times. It then landed on people sitting outside
Premchand's house, crushing Premchand's nephews, Rahul and Virendra.
After the
accident, there was a lot of screaming and shouting. People from the surrounding
area arrived. They somehow lifted the car and pulled out the people trapped
under it. Devendra and Jatin were burnt due to the silencer of the car. On
receiving the information, the police also reached the spot shortly. The people
hit by the car were sent to SN Medical College Emergency, where Babli, Bhanu
Pratap, Kamal, Krishna and Bantesh (50) were declared dead. Two others are
injured and are undergoing treatment.
Chaos ensued,
car driver beaten: After the incident, chaos broke out in the entire locality.
A crowd of people gathered. Eyewitnesses said that the car driver was in an
inebriated state. The airbags opened due to the collision. This saved his life.
After the accident, the car got locked. People broke the glass and pulled him
out. After this, he was beaten. The police somehow saved him from the people.
After this, he was taken to the police station.
The police
attempted to remove the car, but the crowd became enraged and began creating a
ruckus, demanding compensation for the victim's family. Later, Additional
Deputy Commissioner of Police Aditya Singh and ACP Hariparvat Akshay Sanjay
Mahadik arrived. After an hour, the police pacified the crowd. The car involved
in the accident was then seized.
Meanwhile, in
a separate incident Baby Rani Maurya, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister, had a narrow
escape on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway on Friday night when a truck driver lost
control and struck her automobile, according to an official. The state minister
for women's welfare and child development was on his way back to Lucknow from Hathras
when the event occurred around the 56th kilometer point in Firozabad, according
to Sirsaganj's SDM Anivesh Kumar. Around 8:40 p.m., a truck moving ahead of the
minister's vehicle experienced a sudden tire rupture, forcing it to slip
uncontrolled and collide with her automobile, according to the officer. The
minister's automobile was seriously damaged, but the driver was able to handle
it.
The minister,
however, was uninjured and resumed her journey to Lucknow in another car. Later,
in an X post, Maurya wrote, I am safe by the infinite grace of Parampita
Parameshwar and all of you, my dear well-wishers. At the time, traffic on
the highway was handled using a single lane.
