Delhi, 24 October (H.S.): Indian stock markets witnessed significant volatility during early trading on Friday, as benchmark indices struggled for a clear direction. After opening with gains, the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty quickly entered a period of fluctuation, caught in a tug-of-war between buyers and sellers.

By 10:00 AM, the market presented a mixed picture, with the Sensex down 0.05% and the Nifty holding a fractional gain of 0.0027%.The broader market showed a slightly positive bias, with 1,216 stocks trading in the green against 960 in the red out of 2,176 actively traded shares.

However, the main indices reflected the indecision, as the 30-share Sensex had an equal split of 15 gainers and 15 losers. On the Nifty 50, 24 stocks advanced while 26 declined.

Key Movers and Index Trajectory

Leading the gainers were shares of Hindalco Industries, ONGC, Shriram Finance, Tata Steel, and ICICI Bank, which were up between 0.66% and 3.89%. On the other side, stocks like Cipla, Kotak Mahindra, Tata Consumer Products, Titan Company, and Axis Bank faced selling pressure, declining by 0.64% to 2.66%.The BSE Sensex began the day 110.83 points higher at 84,667.23. It reached an intraday high of 84,704.44 before succumbing to selling pressure and touching a low of 84,392.15.

At 10:00 AM, it was trading at 84,513.01, down 43.39 points. Similarly, the NSE Nifty opened at 25,935.10 and swung between a high of 25,944.15 and a low of 25,840.30, trading nearly flat at 25,892.10 by mid-morning. This followed a positive close on Thursday, where the Sensex ended at 84,556.40 and the Nifty at 25,891.40.
