Punjab Police Foil Major Terror Plot in Amritsar, Seize RPG and Arrest Two

CHANDIGARH, 21 October (H.S.): The Punjab Police on Tuesday announced they had successfully thwarted a major terrorist plot in Amritsar, arresting two individuals and seizing a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG).

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrests were the culmination of a coordinated intelligence-led operation conducted with central agencies. The two suspected terrorists were identified as Mahakdeep Singh, also known as Mahak, and Aditya, alias Aadhi.

According to DGP Yadav, the preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspects were in direct contact with an operative from Pakistan's intelligence agency, the ISI, who had supplied them with the weapon. The duo was also reportedly in communication with Harpreet Singh, alias Vicky, an inmate currently lodged in Ferozepur Jail.

Police believe the RPG was intended to be used in a pre-planned terrorist attack orchestrated by Pakistani handlers.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the Gharinda police station in Amritsar, and a thorough investigation is now underway to uncover and dismantle the entire terror network.
