Washington, 19 October (H.S.): The United States government on Saturday( October 18, 2025), announced it has received credible reports indicating that the Palestinian armed group Hamas is planning an imminent attack against civilians within Gaza.

The State Department declared that such an action would represent a direct and grave violation of the current ceasefire agreement and would undermine significant diplomatic progress.

In a formal statement, the State Department warned that if Hamas proceeds with the planned assault, measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and preserve the integrity of the ceasefire. While the department did not specify the nature of these measures, the announcement signals a serious escalation in rhetoric concerning the fragile peace in the region.

The warning was amplified by President Donald Trump, who issued a stern threat on his Truth Social platform. If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them, he posted. However, President Trump later clarified that the United States would not deploy its own troops, suggesting that people very close, very nearby would intervene under American auspices.

The current ceasefire is part of a phased peace deal brokered by the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, which ended a two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas. The agreement's primary stipulations include the cessation of Israeli military operations in exchange for the release of hostages held by Hamas since October 7, 2023. The U.S. confirmed it has informed the guarantor nations of the imminent ceasefire violation by Hamas.

This development follows recent actions by Hamas to consolidate its control over Gaza, including the public execution of several individuals accused of being collaborators and outlaws earlier in the week.
