Shahjahanpur, 17 Oct (HS): A criminal carrying a bounty of Rs.
25,000 was shot and killed by the police when he attempted to flee to Nepal on
a motorcycle in Puwaiyan police station area of Shahjahanpur district of
Uttar Pradesh during wee hours. The criminal was injured in police retaliation
and admitted to a government hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

(Rural) Bhaware Diksha Arun said on Friday that late Thursday night, a gunfight
broke out between the police and a criminal carrying a reward of Rs. 25,000,
wanted in a murder case, near the bypass bridge in the Puwaiyan police station
area. Seeing himself surrounded the criminal opened fire on the police team.
The police team then took charge, and in the retaliatory action taken by the police,
Danish (27), a resident of Kamalnainpur village in the Kant police station
area, was injured by a bullet in the leg.
The ASP said that Danish and his
companions, Gurusevak and Ajay alias Amarjeet Singh, had booked a vehicle from
the Puwaiyan police station area a few days ago to go to Sitarganj. However,
the accused took the vehicle to the Roza police station area and strangled the
driver, Avneesh Dixit (42), to death. They left the body there and stole the
vehicle.
On the other hand, a few days ago ,
during an encounter in Thana Para area of Lucknow district, the police
arrested the criminal Ajay alias Amarjeet Singh, a resident of Hardoi
district. During interrogation, the accused
Ajay confessed to the crime and said that he had carried out the crime in
connivance with Gursevak and Danish, residents of Puwaiyan police station area
of Shahjahanpur. Bhaware Diksha Arun said that Gursevak had already been
killed in an encounter with Thana Para police. The police were searching for
Danish. Several criminal cases were registered against him in various police
stations. Danish was traveling on a motorcycle with the intention of fleeing to
Nepal. Police arrested him during the incident.
