Thoubal (Manipur), 08 January (HS): Security forces are conducting vigorous operations in sensitive areas of hill and valley districts of Manipur. During this, a huge quantity of arms and ammunition have recovered from the banks of Hangoilok river in Irong Tangkhul village of Nongpok Sekmai police station area of Thoubal district.

Police said on Wednesday that the recovered items include a 9 mm pistol with a magazine, a pompey gun / improvised mortar, two 36 HE hand grenades, a detonator, two tear gas shells (soft nose), an anti-riot dye marker grenade, 13 live cartridges, a binocular, a radio set (Baofeng) with charger, a radio set (Motorola Vertex Standard) and 21 empty cartridges.

Police and security forces have secured the area and investigation into the matter is underway.
