Bhubaneswar, 6 January (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the foundation stone for the new Rayagada Rail Division on Monday via video conferencing, marking a significant advancement in train operations in the region.

With an investment of ₹107 crore, the Rayagada Rail Division will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including a Divisional Control Office, eco-friendly staff quarters, and modern infrastructure designed to enhance railway operations in Koraput, Rayagada, and Kalahandi.

The establishment of this division is expected to streamline railway operations, improve efficiency, and stimulate economic growth across Odisha. The development aims to boost regional connectivity, influence demographic mobility, and accelerate progress in southern Odisha, aligning with PM Modi's vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

During the event, PM Modi also inaugurated the new Jammu Railway Division and the Charlapalli New Terminal Station, with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in attendance. Odisha’s newly appointed Governor, Dr. K. Hari Babu, participated via video link, while Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was present on-site in Rayagada.

The announcement has generated considerable excitement, particularly among the residents of the former Koraput district, who look forward to enhanced connectivity and economic opportunities through this transformative initiative.
