Bhubaneswar, 6 January (H.S.): Residents in various parts of Odisha awoke to a dense fog on Monday, accompanied by chilly weather conditions. Visibility fell to as low as 50 metres in some areas, disrupting vehicular movement and daily activities.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar reported that dense fog enveloped districts such as Phulbani, Dhenkanal, and Angul. Visibility ranged between 50 and 200 metres in several locations, including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Minimum temperatures remained significantly below normal, with Bhubaneswar recording 14.5°C and Cuttack registering 14°C. G Udayagiri continued to be the coldest spot in Odisha for the fourth consecutive day, recording a temperature of 5°C on Sunday, a slight increase from the previous day's 4.6°C.

The IMD has forecasted a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2°C to 3°C starting Monday night. While dry weather is anticipated over the next three days, moderate to dense fog is likely to persist in districts such as Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Kalahandi, and Keonjhar.
