Kutch, 06 January (HS): An 18-year-old girl fell into a 540 feet deep borewell at around 6 am on Monday in Kandhrai village located in Bhuj tehsil of Kutch district of Gujarat.
Villagers reached the spot as soon as they got the news of the daughter of a labourer family working in the field falling into the borewell. The team of the Superintendent of Police of Kutch district, ambulance, Bhuj administration and the fire brigade have been engaged in rescue work for the last 7 hours.
A girl fell into a borewell today in Kandhrai village, located about 25 km from the district headquarters Bhuj. Bhuj tehsil's Tehsildar A.N. Sharma said that Indiraben Meena fell into the borewell in the field around 5:30 to 6 am. The villagers were trying to take out the girl who fell into the borewell since morning. The administration was informed about this at 8:45 am. After this, the administration reached the spot with the whole team and is engaged in rescue. A team of NDRF was called to rescue the girl. The second team has also left for Kutch from Gandhinagar.
The Tehsildar said that the diameter of the borewell is 12 inches i.e. one foot. Oxygen is being supplied through a pipeline to save the girl. The fire brigade team has lowered a special type of camera into the borewell, so that the girl can be traced and taken out safely. According to the family members, the girl's voice was heard in the morning, but after 9 o'clock the voice stopped coming.
