Birbhum, 5 January (H.S.):

Bombs were hurled at the house of Kankalitala Gram Panchayat's deputy chief Mohammad Ohiduddin alias Maman Sheikh at Lake Bazar area of Bolpur in Birbhum district at around 8 pm on Saturday night. On information, the police of Shantiniketan police station reached the spot. The police have recovered a bomb.

Notably, on January 1, Kankalitala Gram Panchayat's deputy chief Mohammad Ohiduddin alias Maman Sheikh had expressed the fear of his murder in a press conference. After the incident, the deputy chief said, I and my family are very scared due to the bomb blast at my house in Lake Bazar. However, one bomb did not explode . I informed the police. Let the police investigate. The criminals should be caught.

A party leader has been shot dead in Malda. I too can be killed, he said.

However, the bomb blast at the deputy chief's house was captured in CCTV. The police were searching for the accused.
