Delhi, 30 January (H.S.): The Supreme Court has reprimanded the Central Government for filing a petition against disability pension to retired soldiers. A bench headed by Justice AS Oka said that every member of the armed forces who gets relief from disability pension from the Armed Forces Tribunal does not need to be dragged to the Supreme Court.

During the hearing, the court said that if the Armed Forces Tribunal orders disability pension to a soldier who has served the country for years after becoming disabled, then he should not be dragged to the court. The court said that the Center should use discretion while filing an appeal. The court said that a policy needs to be made for this. In fact, the Central Government has challenged the order of the Armed Forces Tribunal in the Supreme Court, in which a retired radio fitter has been asked to be given disability pension.
