Delhi, 30 January (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM) aims to reduce import dependence, strengthen domestic value chains and support India's 'net zero by 2070' goal.
Responding to an article written by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM), Prime Minister Modi wrote on X, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy explained in detail how the National Critical Mineral Mission aims to reduce import dependence, strengthen domestic value chains and support India's 'net zero by 2070' goal.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy shared an article of his on X and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Cabinet for approving the NCMM. He said that NCMMs will ensure economic growth and also provide energy security, national security and food security as these minerals are essential in sectors such as energy transition, electric vehicles, batteries and energy storage systems, aerospace and defence, and production of chemicals and fertilizers.
Reddy said his article discusses the National Critical Mineral Mission and its outcomes which include domestic exploration and auction of critical mineral blocks, acquisition of foreign mines, storage of critical minerals, creation of large number of skilled professionals and focused research for creation of several patents.
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the launch of the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM) with an outlay of Rs 16,300 crore and an expected investment of Rs 18,000 crore by public sector undertakings etc. It aims to create a fast track regulatory approval process for mining projects related to critical minerals.
